Landscaping Project: East Side Yard (before)
I can’t believe how completely “ghetto” our house/yard looks in this photo! But it’s the bare truth.
When we bought the house there was a funky little pad over here for stacking firewood or such. Actually it was less of a “pad” and more of a ring — three sides of cement footer with the house’s foundation as the fourth side.
While the guy was working on demolishing the cement steps in the west side yard, I also had him break up the cement here, too, in anticipation of eventually doing something to improve the looks of this side of the house.
But what you’re really seeing in this photo, besides some impressive weeds and Ignatz’s baseball bounce-back net, is a pile of cement from the other side of the house. As the guy was breaking up and tearing out the steps, he had to do something with the debris and neither of us had planned far enough ahead. The kids and I ended up filling up several wheelbarrow’s worth of cement debris and dumping it here temporarily. Ugh. I hate doing work I know I’m going to have to repeat for no good reason other than I didn’t think things through thoroughly.
